Citizens for a Safer San Leandro (CSSL) is on a mission, and our goals and aspirations are outlined in the following articles.

Citizens For a Safer San Leandro is dedicated to empowering the community to work together to prevent crime, resolve issues and participate in disaster preparedness training through enhanced communication, neighborhood associations, the San Leandro Police Department, the Alameda County Fire Department, public agencies and the City of San Leandro.

Citizens for a Safer San Leandro began in January, 2008, with a public meeting.  Alarmed at the increasing incidents of crimes such as auto theft, homes being broken into, businesses being vandalized, kids being assaulted, a public meeting was held to seek citizen solutions to the violence. The library auditorium was filled with over 100 people and a list of solutions was compiled. From that meeting, volunteers began meeting twice monthly to change the situation.
